1. Who we are
This website (“we”, “us”) is an independent informational guide about using a VPN on Windows. The operator of this site is the controller responsible for any personal data processed when you visit it. This policy explains what data is processed, why, and what rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and comparable laws.
2. Summary
- No user accounts, sign-up forms, comments or newsletters.
- No analytics, advertising, social media plugins or tracking pixels.
- No fonts, scripts, images or videos are loaded from other websites.
- Only browser storage that is strictly necessary — plus, if you agree, one optional preference.
3. Data we process
3.1 Technical data needed to deliver the site
When this site is served from a web server, that server automatically receives technical information your browser sends with every request: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system type. This is needed to deliver pages to you and to protect the site against misuse.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
3.2 Browser storage
We store a small record of your cookie choice in your browser's local storage so we do not ask again on every page. If you allow the optional “Preferences” category, we also remember which Windows version you selected in the setup guide. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.
Legal basis: strictly necessary storage is permitted to fulfil our obligation to record your consent (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR). Preference storage is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.
4. What we never do
- Sell, rent or trade personal data.
- Build profiles or make automated decisions about you.
- Show advertising or allow advertising networks to track you.
- Ask for or store the VPN server addresses, user names, passwords or keys you use. The examples in the guide are fictional and nothing you type on your PC is sent to this site.
5. Recipients and international transfers
Technical data described in section 3.1 may be processed by the company that hosts this site, acting on our behalf under a data processing agreement as required by Art. 28 GDPR. We do not share data with any other recipients unless required by law. We do not transfer personal data outside the European Economic Area ourselves; where a hosting provider does, it must use safeguards recognised under Chapter V GDPR.
6. Retention
- Server log data: kept only as long as needed for security and error analysis, then deleted routinely.
- Consent record: stored in your browser for up to 12 months, after which we ask you again.
- Preference (optional): stored in your browser until you withdraw consent or clear your browser data.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15).
- Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16).
- Erasure of your data (Art. 17).
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18).
- Data portability (Art. 20).
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21).
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing (Art. 7(3)). Use to do this.
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work (Art. 77).
Because this site does not identify you, the data in your browser is fully under your control: clearing your browser's site data for this website erases everything we store there.
8. Children
This guide is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Security
The site is built without third-party code, which reduces the risk of data leaking to other parties. Where the site is served online, it should be delivered over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site or the law changes. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. If changes affect optional storage, we will ask for your consent again.
